A scene transition controls how visitors move from one scene to the next when they click a hotspot. DEKO360 offers two: Fade and Walk.

The two transitions

  • Fade — the current scene fades into the next. It works for every tour with no setup and is the default.
  • Walk — the camera glides toward the hotspot, as if the visitor were walking through the doorway, before arriving in the next scene. It uses each scene's depth map to create the movement.

Choosing a transition

  1. Open your tour in the editor.
  2. Click empty space (no scene selected) so the right-hand panel shows Tour Properties.
  3. Under Scene transition, choose Fade or Walk.

The setting applies to the whole tour.

What Walk needs

Walk only works between scenes that are fully set up. Anything that isn't falls back to Fade, so a tour is never broken by a missing step. For each hop between two scenes:

  1. Both scenes are linked with hotspots. Add at least two scenes and link them. See Working with Scenes & Hotspots.
  2. Each scene has a finished depth map. Depth maps are generated when a panorama is processed. If one is missing, use Process depth maps, or Reprocess in the Scene Inspector.
  3. Each scene has its compass direction set. Turn the view to face west and click Set west to current view. See Setting the Compass Direction & Start View.

Check Walk setup

When Walk is selected, click Check Walk setup (or the Walk setup is incomplete badge) to see what's missing. It lists the scenes that:

  • have no finished depth map (with a Process depth maps button, and "Depth map is processing…" while it runs),
  • have no compass set, or
  • have no hotspot linking to another scene.

Each item has a Go to scene link that jumps straight to it. When everything is ready you'll see "All scenes are ready for the Walk transition."

Tips for a smooth walk

  • Place each hotspot on the floor, toward where the other scene's camera was standing.
  • Set the compass on both linked scenes so the walk lands facing the right way.
  • Add hotspots in both directions between rooms so visitors can walk back too.
  • Start with Fade while you build, then switch to Walk once your scenes are processed and compass directions are set.
