Two small settings make your tour feel right: the **compass direction** tells DEKO360 which way each panorama faces, and the **start view** decides where visitors look when the tour opens.

## Compass direction (set west)

DEKO360 can't know which way a panorama was shot. You tell it by turning the view to face **west** and saving that direction for the scene. It's used in two places:

- **The floor plan.** The plan is laid out relative to north, so each scene needs its west direction before it can be placed correctly. See [Floor Plan & 3D Dollhouse View](https://help.deko360.com/hc/user-guide/articles/floor-plan-and-3d-dollhouse-view).
- **The Walk transition.** It uses the compass to land facing the right way when moving between linked scenes. See [Scene Transitions: Fade vs Walk](https://help.deko360.com/hc/user-guide/articles/scene-transitions-fade-vs-walk).

### Setting it

1. Select a scene.
2. In the main viewer, drag until you're looking **west**. The compass on the viewer shows your current direction. If you're not sure which way is west, check a map or a phone compass for the room you were standing in.
3. In the **Scene Inspector** on the right, click **Set west to current view**. You'll see "West direction saved for this scene".
4. Repeat for every scene you want on the floor plan or in Walk transitions.

To remove it, click **Clear compass**. Setting the compass can be undone with **Undo**.

### How do I know what's missing?

- Hovering the **Floor plan** button in the top bar shows how many scenes still need a direction. If you open the floor plan before they're all set, a checklist shows progress (for example "3 of 5 scenes set") with a **Go to the editor** button.
- The **Check Walk setup** list under **Tour Properties** flags scenes with "Compass not set".

Scenes you've excluded from the floor plan don't need a compass for the plan.

## Start view

The start view is the direction visitors face when the tour first opens.

1. Select the **first scene** of your tour.
2. Drag the view to point where you want visitors to look first, such as the main window or the entrance.
3. Click **Set start view**. You'll see "Start view saved".

Only the tour's first scene uses a start view.

## Tips

- Set the compass while you're placing hotspots, so you only open each scene once.
- Pick the same reference for every scene: stand in the room, work out which wall faces west, then turn to it.
- If a floor plan looks rotated or mirrored, recheck the west direction on the scenes in the affected room.
